About the Role
We are seeking a Drone AI Engineer to lead the development of intelligent, autonomous capabilities for our next-generation UAV platforms. In this role, you will design, train, and deploy advanced computer vision, navigation, and decision-making algorithms that enable drones to perceive their environment, understand context, and operate safely and efficiently in dynamic real-world conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize AI/ML models for onboard perception, including object detection, tracking, semantic segmentation, and sensor fusion.
- Build autonomous navigation systems using SLAM, path planning, and obstacle-avoidance algorithms.
- Implement and test real-time inference pipelines on embedded hardware (GPU/SoC/Edge AI platforms).
- Integrate AI modules into flight-control and mission-planning systems in collaboration with robotics and firmware teams.
- Conduct simulation-based testing and field-testing to validate system reliability and performance.
- Analyze flight data to improve model robustness, accuracy, and safety.
- Stay current with advancements in AI, robotics, avionics, and drone regulatory frameworks.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, AI/ML, or related field.
- Strong experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow) and classical computer vision.
- Hands-on experience with autonomous robotics or UAV systems.
- Proficiency in Python and C++ for high-performance, real-time applications.
- Experience with ROS/ROS2, Gazebo, or similar robotics simulation environments.
- Familiarity with SLAM, sensor fusion (e.g., LiDAR, RGB, thermal, IMU), and reinforcement learning.
Preferred:
- Experience deploying AI models on embedded platforms (NVIDIA Jetson, Qualcomm RB5, etc.).
- Knowledge of flight-control systems, PX4/ArduPilot, or custom autopilot stacks.
- Background in edge optimization (TensorRT, ONNX, quantization, pruning).
- Experience with cloud-based fleet management or drone-data pipelines.
