Drug Authorization Specialist – Boston, MA (Opportunity for Remote)

We are seeking candidates for a Drug Authorization Specialist position with a highly regarded Boston hospital recognized for its exceptional patient care and medical research. This entry-level role offers an outstanding opportunity to launch a career in healthcare. The ideal candidate will bring some relevant experience along with strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering $20–$23 per hour, depending on experience, for a 40-hour workweek. Fully remote candidates may also be considered (MUST be located in New England).

Responsibilities:

• Perform pre-registration for new patients by making and receiving calls to collect and document demographics, financial details, and other relevant personal information.

• Verify patient identification and ensure all data is accurate and complete.

• Update and maintain patient insurance and demographic information as needed.

• Manage referral and authorization information in accordance with departmental procedures.

• Communicate regularly with physicians and other healthcare providers to obtain clinical clarifications.

• Accurately document all daily activities in the hospital information system in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Science or a related healthcare field (preferred)

• 0–2 years of relevant experience in areas such as healthcare or business administration, health insurance, medical policy/chart review, nursing, or other allied health fields

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

• Experience with Epic strongly preferred
