- Provide quality clinical care to all inpatients under Consultant supervision.
- Attend to serious patients first, followed by stable patients.
- Conduct initial assessment within one hour of admission.
- Assist in pre-operative work-up, prepare surgical consent forms, and provide post-operative care as instructed.
- Perform ward procedures including wound dressing, suture removal, CVP line removal, epidural catheter removal, and insertion/removal of Ryle’s tube and Foley’s catheter.
- Record receiving notes for patients shifted from OT, ICU, or Dialysis.
- Attend to emergency calls promptly and document all actions taken during the shift.
- Conduct at least two patient reviews per day and update case sheets and progress notes with date, time, and signature.
- Monitor chemotherapy patients and cross-check medication flow with treatment charts.
- Ensure documentation of outside investigation reports and consultants’ OP notes at admission.
- Collect laboratory reports, update Consultants on significant findings, and follow up on instructions.
- Prepare accurate discharge plans and summaries for all planned discharges.
- Keep Consultants informed on cross-references, patient progress, and any clinical variations.
- Maintain accurate and complete case sheets, progress notes, and treatment documentation.
- Ensure proper handover during shift changes with clear documentation of ongoing treatment and pending issues.
- Coordinate effectively with Consultants, Medical Supervisors, Nursing Team, and Registrars.
- Do not initiate treatment independently without Consultant approval.
- Follow the assigned duty roster and provide coverage during colleague absences when required.
- Remain accessible and respond promptly while on duty or on call.
- Maintain professional and courteous behavior with colleagues, nursing staff, patients, and attendants.
- Attend CME programs, training sessions, and hospital meetings as scheduled.
- Follow all hospital policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
