At Rosewood Red Sea an ultra-luxury hospitality environment, the Duty Engineer represents the frontline of technical excellence, ensuring that every guest-facing and back-of-house system performs flawlessly at all times. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Operational Excellence & System Management

Ensure continuous operation of all hotel systems including:
-
HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire & life safety, and ELV systems
-
Monitor plant equipment (chillers, boilers, pumps, generators) to ensure optimal efficiency and reliability
-
Perform routine inspections, technical rounds, and log all operational parameters
-
Maintain readiness of standby systems and emergency equipment
-
Ensure uninterrupted utilities like power, ventilation, and water across the hotel
2. Guest Response & Service Integration
-
Respond immediately to guest maintenance requests with professionalism and minimal disruption
-
Diagnose and resolve in-room and public area issues efficiently
-
Engage with guests when required, ensuring resolution aligns with luxury service expectations
3. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
-
Execute preventive maintenance programs across all equipment and systems
-
Troubleshoot and repair:
-
Electrical systems
-
HVAC and refrigeration
-
Plumbing and mechanical systems
-
Carry out minor civil works (painting, carpentry, finishing)
-
Multi-skilled in maintenance across MEP systems and general building works
4. Emergency Response & On-Call Duties

Act as first responder for all technical emergencies, including:

Power failure
-
Fire system activation
-
Water leakage / flooding
-
Participate actively in the Emergency Response Team (ERT)

Remain available beyond shifts for urgent breakdowns when required
-
Execute safe isolation procedures (Lockout/Tagout)
5. Health, Hygiene & HACCP Compliance

Ensure all engineering systems in kitchens, food preparation, and storage areas comply with HACCP standards
-
Maintain hygiene-focused systems such as:

Kitchen ventilation & exhaust (grease control, airflow balance)
-
Drainage and waste water systems
-
Cold room temperature stability
-
Support Food Safety teams during audits and inspections
-
Ensure no engineering-related risk to food safety or hygiene standards
6. Shift Ownership & Reporting

Take full responsibility of engineering operations during assigned shift

Maintain accurate:

Logbooks
-
Incident reports
-
Shift handover documentation
-
Communicate critical issues clearly to the next shift and supervisors

Daily activity reporting and cross-shift communication are essential
7. Technical Expertise & Multi-Skilling

Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education

Diploma or Degree in:

Mechanical / Electrical / Building Services Engineering
(Technical certification or vocational training accepted in luxury hospitality environments)
Experience

Minimum 3–6 years in engineering or maintenance operations

Prior experience in 5-star hotel or luxury property preferred

Exposure to:
