Position

· Duty Engineer

The Duty Engineer is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and safety of all hotel engineering systems. They act as the on-duty technical point of contact for all engineering-related issues, ensuring guests and staff experience uninterrupted services and comfort.

Key Responsibilities

· Monitor and maintain all hotel engineering systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevators, fire alarms, and water systems

· Respond promptly to engineering requests and breakdowns from guests and hotel staff

· Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance checks to avoid equipment failures

· Attend to guest requests or complaints related to engineering issues promptly and professionally

· Ensure minimal disruption to guest experience during maintenance or emergency repairs

· Provide technical support to other hotel departments as required

· Ensure compliance with local safety codes, hotel standards, and environmental regulations

· Maintain fire safety systems, emergency lighting, and backup generators

· Assist in safety audits, drills, and risk assessments

· Maintain logs of all engineering activities, inspections, and incidents

· Report breakdowns, repairs, and preventive maintenance to the Chief Engineer or Engineering Manager

· Monitor energy consumption and recommend efficiency improvements

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Hotel Engineering
• 2–5 years of experience in hotel or commercial facility engineering
• Strong technical knowledge of building systems and equipment
• Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
