DMO provides direct patient care, performs clinical assessments and treatments, manages medical emergencies, and ensures continuity of care by collaborating with other healthcare professionals during their shifts. They are responsible for diagnosing conditions, maintaining patient records, overseeing hospital operations, and adhering to health and safety regulations to provide high-quality care. Clinical Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct physical examinations, take medical histories, and order diagnostic tests to assess patient conditions.
- Treatment and Care Planning: Develop treatment plans, prescribe medications, and provide necessary therapies for both acute and chronic conditions.
- Emergency Care: Provide immediate treatment in medical emergencies, stabilize patients, and coordinate with other medical services.
- Monitoring and Follow-up: Monitor patient progress, evaluate responses to treatment, and adjust care plans to achieve optimal outcomes.Operational and Administrative Duties
- Coordination of Care: Work with nurses, specialists, and other support staff to ensure seamless and coordinated patient care across the facility.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, detailed, and compliant patient records, documenting all assessments, treatments, and progress notes.
- Health and Safety: Ensure a safe and clean environment, manage infection control measures, and monitor hospital equipment to promote patient and staff safety.
- Supervision: Oversee and train junior medical staff, delegate tasks, and ensure effective teamwork within their department.Collaboration and Communication
- Interdisciplinary Teams: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to facilitate effective treatment strategies and multidisciplinary rounds.
- Patient and Family Education: Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing information about conditions, treatments, and potential outcomes.
- Compliance: Ensure that all medical services and patient care practices comply with established protocols, healthcare regulations, and institutional policies
