E-commerce Category Manager

Job Summary

We are looking for a dynamic and commercially-driven E-commerce Category Manager to take ownership of a product category across leading online platforms. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategic plans to drive category growth, manage profitability, and build strong partnerships with online marketplaces. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical, execution-focused, and capable of navigating the fast-paced e-commerce landscape to deliver results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Category Growth Strategy:

Develop and implement comprehensive growth strategies tailored to online channels and platforms, aligning with overall business objectives.

  • P&L Ownership:

Take full responsibility for the category’s Profit & Loss performance across all e-commerce platforms and online retail partners.

  • Marketplace Relationship Management:

Build and maintain strong relationships with major online marketplaces (e.g., Amazon, Flipkart, etc.) and drive collaborative business planning.

  • Assortment & Commercial Optimization:

Curate and optimize the product assortment, pricing strategy, promotional activities, and on-platform visibility to maximize category sales and profitability.

  • Market Intelligence:

Monitor competitor activity, emerging trends, and consumer behavior to identify market gaps and unlock new growth opportunities.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Coordinate closely with supply chain, marketing, finance, and other internal teams to ensure seamless execution of category plans and new product launches.

  • Partner Negotiations:

Lead commercial negotiations with online partners, including terms on margins, visibility packages, marketing spends, and promotional slots.

  • Performance Analysis & Reporting:

Track and analyze key performance metrics including sales, margins, market share, ROI, and customer engagement. Share regular insights and business reviews with senior management.

  • Operational Excellence:

Ensure flawless execution on digital platforms through efficient inventory planning, timely product availability, and compelling promotional campaigns.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (MBA preferred)
  • 3–6 years of experience in category management, e-commerce, or digital sales
  • Proven experience managing online marketplaces such as Amazon, Flipkart, etc.
  • Strong analytical and commercial acumen with a deep understanding of online consumer behaviour
  • Excellent negotiation, relationship-building, and project management skills
  • Proficiency in Excel and analytical/reporting tools; experience with e-commerce dashboards/portals is a plus
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
