Salary: $14.50 – $15.86
QUALIFICATIONS:
- An associate’s degree (AA) in Early Childhood Education or child development or the equivalent; or willing to obtain a CDA credential within 18 months.
- Prior experience with Infant and Toddlers in an Early Head Start setting is preferred.
- Ability to work in cooperative and collegial manner with the Early Head Start co-teacher, families, Early Head Start partners, staff and community members.
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certified.
- Responsibility of employee to obtain and maintain all training(s), certificate(s), approval(s), etc. and provide documentation to the business office before the expiration date of said document(s).
- Must have regular and reliable job attendance, performance, and the physical ability to do this job.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds and work at the physical level with infants and toddlers.
Required to have a physical presence at the designated job site each scheduled work day.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to use computers, software and other current technology.
- Effective written and oral communication skills with children, families and other program staff including parent/family communications and program data reports.
- Effective organizational skills.
- Maintain professional atmosphere and demeanor in the classroom, acting at all times as a representative of Early Head Start and the ISD.
- Complete reports and other record keeping activities accurately and timely as prescribed by the program
- Attend and engage in continuous professional development and coaching.
- Ability to work cooperatively as a part of a team, including co-teaching with the Lead
Teacher and other staff to coordinate and plan curriculum and activities.
- Actively supervise and monitor safety of children during all parts of the day.
- Engage in activities with children at their physical level.
- Have the ability to care for infants and toddlers (diapering, bottle feeding, etc.)
- Help to provide a warm, nurturing environment for infants and toddlers.
- Create an overall supportive, nurturing, strength based, inclusive environment.
- Maintain student and program confidentiality.
- Implement High Scope and Conscious Discipline to fidelity.
- Engage families in their child’s education through events, conferences, home visits, volunteer opportunities and community resources.
- Assisting the lead teacher in completing classroom requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the St. Joseph County ISD administrators.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: To be determined based on Non-Union conditions of employment. Grant year from March to February. 240 days, 8 hours per day
