POSITION: EARLY HEAD START/EXP CAREGIVER

1. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:

Provides a comprehensive program of guidance, direction and meaningful classroom experience designed to meet the individual needs of each student in accordance with ACYF and Early Head Start Performance Standards. Provides constant supervision of children during all activities indoor and outdoor. Organizes classroom space into functional areas (interest centers).

II. SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES:

  • Implements the EHS Curriculum in the classroom in accordance with the Head Start Performance Standards Acts.
  • Prepare daily lesson plans that include indoors and outdoors activities and reflect individualization, multicultural educational materials and activities.
  • Participates in family style meal service by eating with children ensuring that meal or snack is appropriate to the children's age, development and needs.
  • Documents volunteer activities and parent communicating regarding children's functions and activities.
  • Organizes classroom according to the developmental levels and individual needs of infants and toddlers.
  • Provides for small and large group activities designed to promote fine and motor development.
  • Maintains a classroom that is home-like, safe, sanitary and free of clutter at all times; maintains a safe environment indoors and outdoors.

III. SUPERVISION:

  • Directly responsible to the Center Directors for the performances of duties.

EDUCATION/DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A.A. Degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Development or Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate in Infants and Toddlers.
  • One (1) experience working with young children.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a Background Check, Drug Screen and Physical.

Must be able to pass a criminal background check, physical to include TB, and drug screen.
