POSITION OVERVIEW

BASF is seeking a strategic and technically adept Marketing Manager to lead the marketing function for our FCC Catalysts and Additives business across the Eastern Hemisphere, encompassing Europe, Africa, the Middle East, CIS, and Asia Pacific. Based in Dubai, this role supports a geographically dispersed sales team and collaborates closely with technical experts, regional product management, and the regional supply chain/ customer care center to drive market profitability and customer success. Position is designed as a leader in driving business decisions for the region with high collaboration with the Sales Director and Global Marketing Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Marketing & Business Development

  • Develop and execute regional marketing strategies aligned with global FCC business goals.
  • Identify and prioritize market opportunities through competitive analysis, customer insights, and regional trends.
  • Lead regional product positioning, pricing strategies, and promotional campaigns.
  • Lead publications process with global organization to identify and develop a strategy to support the commercial and technical publications pipeline.

Sales & Technical Support

  • Support risk evaluation and value delivery through collaboration with sales, technology, global leadership to ensure BASF is pricing competitively in the market and appropriately manages commercial risks in price development.
  • Partner with the regional sales team to support complex technical sales processes, including customer presentations, technical value propositions, and bid strategies.
  • Collaborate with the technical service team to ensure alignment between customer needs and product capabilities.
  • Support key account management and strategic customer engagements.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Serve as a liaison between business teams (commercial, technical, product management, leadership) to align requirements to support commercial offers and establish pricing.
  • Translate business/ customer value needs- risk management and technical jargon across teams to ensure mutual understanding and alignment.
  • Foster respect and collaboration across cross-functional teams.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely to identify and support customers’ needs identification by working with sales, technology, Global Marketing Manager, Innovation manager and Product Manager to align marketing initiatives, value propositions with product price development and product / customer lifecycle strategies.
  • Coordinate with the Product Management & Regional supply chain to ensure an understanding of forecasts and potential new business is used from the forecast system to ensure product availability, timely delivery, and supply chain efficiency.
  • Liaise with global marketing and communications teams to ensure consistent branding and messaging.

Market Intelligence & Reporting

  • Monitor and report on market dynamics, competitor activities, regulatory developments, and customer feedback.
  • Provide actionable insights to guide strategic decisions and product innovation.

Performance & Change Management

  • Define KPIs and track performance of digital initiatives.
  • Promote adoption of digital tools and cultivate a culture of digital excellence.
  • Adapt to and embody the culture of Refinery Catalysts, EV, and BASF.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related technical discipline; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 7–10 years of experience in marketing or technical sales within the refining or petrochemical industry, ideally with FCC catalysts and additives.
  • Understanding of refinery operations and catalyst technologies is a plus.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Power tool set (BI, Automate, Apps).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-regional marketing initiatives and support high-value technical sales.
  • Strong analytical, communication, flexibility and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% across the Eastern Hemisphere.
