ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COORINATOR

We are currently seeking:

An Economic Development Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will support economic development activities such as marketing, client recruiting / consultation, and recordkeeping. The primary function is to assist with researching, planning, organizing, prioritizing and follow-up work to broaden the business attraction, retention and expansion programs of the City of San Angelo (Economic) Development Corporation (COSADC), including staff support for incubator and angel investor network functions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops and coordinates efforts in obtaining and servicing clients. Client recruiting functions include marketing, identification, recruitment, analysis and custom contracting with clients. Client servicing functions include providing physical facilities, financial consultation, general business consultation, information relating to capital resources, lending and grant programs.
  • Serves as the Corporate Secretary for the Development Corporation; prepares COSADC board of director meeting agendas, prepares meeting minutes, updating by-laws, etc.; assists in the preparation of agenda items for the City of San Angelo City Council meetings.
  • Develops grant applications and the administration of those grants once received; maintains complete client files and development projects; manages electronic client tracking and prepares periodic reports.
  • Completes administrative tasks in support of the COSADC operation, including processing receipts and payments, employee time reporting, budgeting and financial monitoring, training, travel, and other support functions as necessary.
  • Coordinates the annual Business Plan Competition business development / recruitment program.
  • Manages the Business Resource Center facility, including routine maintenance and repairs as required.
  • Manages the office / lease arrangements for the Business Factory tenants, including participation in Business Factory Advisory meetings.
  • Regular and timely attendance is required.
  • Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Organizational planning, customer and public relations, basic accounting and budgetary skills.
  • Excellent communication, both oral and written.
  • Preparing, editing and maintaining sensitive and confidential correspondence.
  • Must be able to effectively manage multiple projects, complete projects within established deadlines, and report to multiple oversight entities and boards.
  • Must be technically capable of operating in enterprise-type system applications (e.g., human resources, accounting, budgeting, purchasing, etc.) and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Business Communication or related field desired; or, related experience in accounting, marketing and/or contract management; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Licenses or Certifications:

  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Applicants with an out-of-state license must provide a certified driving record from the state of issuance.
  • Must be or become a Texas Notary

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment and occasionally in the field when conducting business site visits.
  • May be subject to repetitive motion such as data entry.
  • May be subject to extended periods of mental concentration, research and analysis.
  • May be subject to bending, reaching, kneeling and lifting, such as retrieving or replacing files or records, and setting up for meetings and special events.
