Economics and Data Analyst
We have an exciting opportunity with a global energy company for an Economics and Data Analyst to support our clients around their Competition law compliance and Merger control activity.
Overview
In this role, you will combine applied economic analysis, data management, and policy insight to further enhance the Company’s ability to pro-actively identify, assess and mitigate competition law risks across its global operations.
The Competition practice area is responsible for providing comprehensive and timely competition law advice to the Company and its global network of affiliates, with respect to a diverse range of commercial activities, operations and investments.
Key Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate and oversee annual group-wide competition law compliance related data collection activities, including liaising with various business functions and affiliates.

Refine, maintain and update relevant data sets utilized for various competition law compliance purposes, as well for related regulations.

Coordinate with external economists as needed on matters related to data collection, data refinement, market share analysis and other matters requiring external economic advice.

Undertake market scoping, preparation of market shares and analysis of competitive effects required for merger control filings, and as needed for other competition law compliance matters.

Provide economic analysis in support of advice provided by the Competition practice area.
Experience and Skills

You must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree preferred Economics.

At Least 7 years’ professional experience in economics or econometrics, including experience providing economic advice in competition law contexts (e.g., consultancy, regulator or corporate strategy).

You must have experience managing large datasets, including strong skills in data analytics and visualization tools.

You must also have a close familiarity with competition economics concepts, and experience conducting market share analyses and analyzing competitive effects of market conduct.

You will be able to demonstrate experience supporting or leading economic analysis workstreams on merger control matters, market investigations or dominance cases.

You will be able to demonstrate your ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams and your ability to present technical results to non-technical audiences clearly.

You will also have a high analytical rigor, and a commitment to integrity and confidentiality.

Experience with the energy and petrochemical industry is preferred.
