SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST INTERN
(EXCEPTIONAL STUDENT EDUCATION AND STUDENT SERVICES)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree and completion of necessary graduate level coursework in School Psychology and enrolled in a
School Psychology internship program
• Possess a valid Florida or state-issued Driver License, if not, agree to secure a Florida Driver License within thirty (30)
days of employment, except in a case where accommodation is required
REQUIRED SKILLS
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
• Demonstrated ability in planning, implementation, task completion and decision making
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with school-based and district staff on professional, technical and general areas of
school psychology and health services
• Demonstrated ability to participate as a member of a student services team
• Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously and effectively with both professional and school community

POSITION GOAL
To complete an internship program by providing school psychological services to students while under the
supervision of the School Psychologist of
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are to be performed under the supervision of a School Psychologist of for the
purpose of completing the requirements of a School Psychology intern program.
1. *Provide psychological assessments as mandated by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act to identify and assist in
determining the most appropriate educational placement for students.
2. *Following completion of psychological evaluations, provide written report to student’s school and share results and
recommendations with school and parents through participation on staffing committee and/or through consultation with
appropriate parties.
3. *Help design, implement and evaluate interventions for students experiencing learning and behavioral difficulties through
involvement with Problem Solving Teams and through consultation with parents and school faculty.
4. *Assess students for intervention planning and implement assessment systems such as Curriculum Based Assessment to
monitor students’ progress.
5. *Provide inservice to teachers and faculty on relevant issues that affect academic and emotional outcomes of students.
6. *Provide individual and/or group support to students to foster adjustment and self-efficacy.
7. *Provide diagnostic/prescriptive services for students exhibiting behavioral difficulties through observations, development of
Functional Behavioral Assessments/Behavior Intervention Plans and social skills training, when appropriate.
8. *Assist with school reform efforts through involvement with school improvement teams
9. *Facilitate coordination of services among various agencies and practitioners serving children, as designated.
10. *Maintain knowledge of district, state and federal laws and policies affecting the practices of school psychologists and the
students they serve.

11. *Engage in professional development to stay abreast of current trends in assessment, consultation and other pertinent issues
affecting school psychologists.
12. *Create for supervisor’s review and maintain accurate records, logs, statistics and reports for effective communication,
documentation, department statistics, accountability, and program evaluations.
13. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Coordinator, School Psychological Services.
