Editorial Assistant - GQ Middle East (Maternity Cover – 4 Month Contract)

Editorial Assistant, GQ Middle East

GQ Middle East is seeking an intelligent, creative and highly organised Editorial Assistant to join its growing team, supporting both print and digital platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in men’s style, culture, lifestyle, entertainment and sport, and will be confident in writing, researching and providing day to day editorial support to senior team members.


Responsibilities

  • Work closely with senior editors on print: write engaging captions, headlines and standfirsts; conduct research; assist with interviews and transcriptions; support with fact checking; help coordinate shoots and editorial logistics; compile story briefs and fact sheets; maintain contact lists; and assist with general editorial administration.
  • Support the digital team by writing, pitching, researching and reporting online stories across GQ’s core pillars, including style, culture, grooming, entertainment and sport.
  • Monitor trends, news and emerging talent relevant to GQ’s audience, proactively pitching timely and original ideas.
  • Assist with sourcing imagery and supporting content production across social and digital platforms where required.
  • Build and maintain relationships with PRs, brands and industry contacts to support editorial opportunities.


Requirements

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience with a design/lifestyle brand or media publisher.
  • Impeccable editorial judgement, writing, and ability to capture AD’s voice to reach new and established audiences.
  • Proven ability to work independently and quickly, and remain organised and efficient in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • A passion for the design category and a knowledge of its key players.
  • Photoshop/video editing skills a plus
