Editorial Content Assistant Director

Responsible for developing, writing and shaping high-impact stories that advance Tulane University’s reputation and institutional priorities.
Reporting to the Director of Editorial, this position f ocuses on writing, editing and maintaining high-quality content for Tulane Today, The Tulanian and related platforms. The Assistant Director also collaborates with News & Media Relations, social media and campus communicators to ensure consistent storytelling across university channels and external media coverage.
This role provides strategic editorial support and serves as a backup to the Assistant Editorial Director for Tulane Today production when needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English or related field.
  • 5–7 years of professional writing and editing experience.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced news or media environment.
  • Experience working with digital project management tools.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in higher education communications.
  • Familiarity with content management systems such as Drupal.
  • Familiarity with email publishing platforms.

  • Exceptional research, writing and editing skills.
  • Strong news judgment and understanding of reputation-driven storytelling.
  • Expert knowledge of Associated Press style.
  • Ability to conceptualize and develop high-impact stories.
  • Strong editorial coaching and feedback skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong collaboration skills across communications disciplines.
  • Working knowledge of digital publishing platforms and analytics tools.
