Supports the development and execution of content initiatives that advance Tulane University’s mission and the goals of University Communications and Marketing (UCM) through multi-channel, multi-media storytelling.
Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President for News and Media Relations, implements editorial content strategy by identifying and developing stories and content that support brand messaging, publications, digital initiatives, social media and marketing, video storytelling, special events and more.
Provides editorial oversight of Tulane Today and The Tulanian, including vision, editorial direction, content strategy and publication planning and also writes content when needed.
Works closely with UCM leadership and campus partners to support content efforts that reach key audiences through appropriate channels and coordinated messaging. Has three primary roles: 1) Managing the research, development and production of stories for use across platforms. 2) Collaborating with channel owners to support consistent and effective context execution. 3) Managing the day-to-day operations of the editorial team.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, English, business, marketing or related field
7-10 years of experience in marketing communications, including supervisory experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience leading multi-channel, multi-media communications and marketing campaigns and strategies.
- Experience with project management tools.
- Understanding of AP style.
- Experience in higher education or the public sector.
- Experience overseeing the creation and development of print and digital publications.
- Ability to reflect, articulate, and promote the mission, vision, and identity of Tulane University.
- Demonstrated experience directing content operations from concept to completion and establishing related processes and practices.
- Strong strategic and creative sensibilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong copyediting skills.
- Extensive project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and creatively.
