Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced and versatile Editorial Manager – English who will be responsible for planning, developing, and delivering high-quality K–12 English products that are academically rigorous, market-relevant, and delivered on time and within budget.
The role combines editorial leadership, people management, and market-facing engagement, ensuring strong adoption, sustained retention, and continuous improvement of the English portfolio across print and digital formats.

Key Responsibilities


Publishing:

  • Own and execute publishing plans for assigned English portfolios, aligned with overall product and business strategy.
  • Ensure editorial quality, academic integrity, inclusivity, and compliance with CUPA publishing guidelines.
  • Oversee commissioning, briefing, contracting, and management of authors and contributors.
  • Drive timely development and delivery of content within agreed scope, timelines, and budgets.
  • Identify opportunities for product extensions, supplementary resources, and digital enhancements.
  • Ensure digital requirements are embedded early in product planning and development.
  • Support pilot projects and innovation initiatives with strong academic and market alignment.
  • Monitor competitor offerings and evolving pedagogical trends to inform product differentiation.

Mentorship and Supervision:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage editors to ensure consistent editorial processes and high-quality output.
  • Ensure equitable workload distribution and effective capacity planning within the team.
  • Review, refine, and strengthen editorial workflows to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Support professional development and performance growth of team members.

Relationship building:

  • Build and manage a strong network of authors, freelancers, reviewers, and vendors.
  • Oversee quality, timelines, and cost effectiveness of outsourced editorial work.
  • Maintain strong, collaborative relationships that enable repeat engagement and scalability.

Market Engagement:

  • Conduct and support teacher orientations, product workshops, and academic training sessions to strengthen adoption and credibility.
  • Capture structured feedback from classrooms and schools and translate insights into product improvements.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to develop product narratives, presentations, and enablement material.

Travel Expectations


The role involves regular travel across India for school visits, orientations, teacher training workshops, and author/vendor meetings, depending on business needs and seasonality.

Candidate Profile

  • 5–8 years of experience in English, ELT, educational publishing, or EdTech, with expertise in contributor networks and product development.
  • Strong experience in managing editorial teams, authors, and contributor ecosystems.
  • Proven ability to deliver complex publishing projects on time and within budget.
  • Master's degree in English, Education, or a related discipline (Publishing qualification desirable).
  • Strong understanding of K–12 English pedagogy, curriculum frameworks, and classroom realities.
  • Excellent editorial judgement with attention to detail and academic rigour.
  • Confident communicator with strong presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Comfortable working with digital products, tools, and innovative initiatives.
  • Analytical mindset with experience in competitor analysis and market benchmarking.
  • Flexible, proactive, and effective in managing changing priorities.
