Job PurposeThis position on the Educator Preparation team in the Office of Educator Services supports the evaluation and continuous improvement of alternative and traditional educator preparation programs in South Carolina through the collection, analysis, and utilization of program, graduate, and educator workforce data. The employee in this position will have responsibilities for the development of the annual critical need subject area and school designations, the Educator Preparation Report Card, Title II reporting, and other reports and resources for varied stakeholders.Essential Knowledge and SkillsThe employee must possess effective data analysis, program evaluation, and reporting skills and the ability to disaggregate complex data sets to inform decisions about program effectiveness, accountability, and continuous improvement. The employee must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills to work with agency colleagues and external stakeholders from varied entities. Experience with creating data dashboards and other data visualizations is recommended.General InformationThe employee must be able to work both collegially and independently with minimal supervision and will report to the team leader and office director. The employee is expected to exercise discretion and sound judgment in decision-making and demonstrate comprehensive problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal skills are necessary to work with both internal and external stakeholders, including other members of the Educator Preparation and Educator Services teams, agency colleagues, college and university faculty and staff, and alternative route program personnel. Job Functions and ResponsibilitiesThe employee in this Education Associate position: Serves as the designated lead for data collection and analysis for educator preparation providers and programs to develop required federal and state reports, determine program effectiveness, and inform policy and accreditation decisions. Ensures compliance with federal and state legislation as well as State Board of Education policies and submission of required annual reporting.Utilizes complex data sets to identify critical need subject areas and schools, evaluate provider and program effectiveness, create presentations and data visualizations, and to publish and present findings.Develops and implements policies and procedures related to the collection, use, and reporting of educator and educator preparation data. Provides subject matter expertise in the initial and ongoing enhancement of applications and data systems.Provides technical assistance to educator preparation providers and other stakeholders regarding data reporting processes, accountability measures, and program evaluation.This position is in the main office of the South Carolina Department of Education. Some overnight travel may be required on a limited basis.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
A bachelor's degree and experience in education, analytics, business, public administration or a related field.
