Through initiatives including education programs on abuse recognition and reporting for both children and adults, evidence-based home visiting support for parents, and more, Prevent Child Abuse Utah is dedicated to this vital cause.

Job Summary

The Education Specialist’s purpose is to prevent child abuse in Utah.The Education Specialist educates students with Child Abuse Prevention, Bullying Prevention, and Healthy Relationships curricula. They collect and record data and communicate with DCFS when applicable. They train school professionals to be certified prevention specialists for their school communities. They coordinate and implement outreach efforts and attend in-person community events. They assist in communications by creating content for social media and events. They also contribute to fundraising efforts by collecting donations, helping with the execution, and assisting in-person at the events. Education Specialists work as a member of the Education Team. During the school year, the team teaches classroom presentations on location in Utah’s public, charter and private schools. Other responsibilities are completed at the Salt Lake City office (2121 S State Street) or from home.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Reports to the Education Program Administrator
  • Learns all required curricula for students, parents, and faculty
  • Teaches K-12 students, faculty, administrators, business leaders, and community members with trauma-informed care
  • Assists with fundraising efforts
  • Travels to teaching locations with the team
  • Creates content for use by communications
  • Distributes, collects, and enters school data and evaluation forms from presentations
  • Manages and completes projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field OR equivalent experience
  • Experience with teaching/public speaking and classroom management and engagement
  • Valid driver’s license, registered car and car insurance
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Project management skills

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $21.00 per hour
