Job Description:

The Aspirus Educator – Emergency Medical Services is responsible for the development and oversite of the internal education program for Aspirus MedEvac. Including but not limited to initiation, coordination and presentation of various educational programs that meet or exceed requirements set forth by Local, State, and National EMS educational standards. The Educator – Emergency Medical Services serves as the State of Wisconsin EMS Refresher Training Center Program Director or Assistant Director for Aspirus MedEvac to provide EMS refresher training to Aspirus MedEvac and outlying EMS personnel. The Educator – Emergency Medical Services functions as a professional representative of the program and shall support and uphold the mission, vision and goals of Aspirus MedEvac, Aspirus Wausau Hospital, and Aspirus Health always.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of emergency patient care standards and practices is normally acquired through completionof an accredited license specific program, e.g. EMT, Paramedic, RN.
  • Associate degree required or within a mutually agreed upon period.
  • Preferred in the field of EMS or Healthcare
  • Minimum five years’ experience working as a Paramedic or RN in the EMS environment or working with EMS on a consistent basis.
  • Prior experience in EMS educational program planning and development.
  • Maintains licenserequirements for license or degree (Registered Nurse/Paramedic/EMT).
  • Possesses an active Wisconsin and Michigan EMS license.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, andPHTLS/BTLS Instructor certifications or obtained within an agreed amount of time with Administration.
  • Possessesand maintains a valid Driver’s License in the state of residency.
  • Competencies specific to MedEvac must be completed upon hire and annually.
  • Michigan Instructor Coordinator-Paramedicor within a mutually agreed upon period.
  • Wisconsin EMS Instructor Level IIor within a mutually agreed upon period.
  • STABLE (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab work, Emotionalsupport) certifications.
  • Critical Care Paramedic/Critical Care RN Endorsement/Certification
  • Red Cross or American Heart Instructor Certification
  • Nationally Registered Paramedic
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as conflict resolution skills.
  • Possessesprofessional appearance and manner.
  • Possesses basic computer skills including the ability to use Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and other programs as deemed appropriate.
  • Knowledge of current EMS curricular content and education standards.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated teaching and educational facilitation skills.
  • Knowledge of competency-based education principles and methods.

Aspirus MedEvac medical transportation service provides 24-hour emergency air and ground medical transport for critically ill and injured individuals of North Central Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. We are dedicated to providing the highest standard of care and safety to our patients. Aspirus MedEvac operates critical care ground transfer ambulances from Wisconsin ground bases in Weston, Mosinee, Wisconsin Rapids, Medford, Plover, Portage, Rhinelander, Eagle River, Woodruff and Upper Michigan bases in Ontonagon, Iron River and Crystal Falls. In addition to the Critical care Ground Transports, Aspirus MedEvac also provides 911 coverage for Iron County MI, Lincoln County WI, Oneida County WI, Taylor County WI, Vilas County WI, and Watersmeet MI. The ground units are staffed with Critical Care Paramedics, Registered Nurses and EMTs. MedEvac air is staffed with a pilot, a Flight Nurse and a Flight Paramedic and is capable of transporting one patient.
