EEC Qualified Preschool Teacher or Lead Teacher

St. Spyridon Preschool is a private, non-profit preschool serving children ages 2.9 to 6 years. We are committed to providing nurturing, safe, and engaging learning environments where each child can thrive. While housed within Saint Spyridon Cathedral, our curriculum is not religious based. Our mission is to foster growth socially, emotionally, physically, intellectually, and creatively through hands-on, developmentally appropriate play based learning experiences. We believe in developing the “whole child” and preparing young learners for school readiness through play, while supporting each child’s individual needs.

We’re seeking a skilled, MA EEC Qualified PreschoolTeacher/Lead Teacher to join our team. Our ideal candidate will be fun, energetic and not afraid to get messy! Each day is an opportunity to be silly and upbeat and contribute to the caring, supportive atmosphere St. Spyridon is known for.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver a developmentally appropriate, hands-on curriculum for children aged 2.9-6, focused on school readiness.
• Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, clean, and engaging classroom and outdoor environment.
• Observe, assess, and document student growth; use these assessments to inform instruction.
• Mentor, support, and teachers and assistants.
• Communicate regularly with families about children’s progress and classroom events.
• Maintain ratios, health & safety, licensing, and all other MA EEC requirements.
• Participate in staff meetings and ongoing professional development.
• Must be able to handle bodily fluids; runny noses, diaper changing and toileting etc. are part of the job of caring for children.

Required Qualifications

• Massachusetts EEC Preschool Teacher Certification
• At least 1 year of experience working with preschool-aged children in a licensed setting
• CPR and First Aid certification
• Must be able to read, write and speak English clearly and effectively
• Proven leadership ability, and a collaborative spirit
• Extensive experience with hands-on, play-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum
• Familiarity with family engagement and communication best practice

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (or equivalent as per EEC Minimum Hiring Requirements)
• MA EEC Lead Teacher Qualification
• Experience mentoring other teachers and leading classrooms
• Pay based on qualification and education levels
