EH&S Advisor

Specific Responsibilities

EH&S Advisor for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Health & Safety team at the company’s field location, reporting to the EH&S Manager.

This role will be primarily responsible for the following:

Ensure Compliance with Apache & KPC systems as well as legal requirement.

  • Develop compliance matrix for the field including seismic, drilling projects and operations work to implement and comply with regulatory requirements, Apache/ KPC standards and applicable international standards.
  • Track & regular compliance monitoring, and develop corrective actions for noncompliance agreed with field management team.
  • Liaise with DEHS GM to update and comply with regulations.

Manage contractors to comply with APA/KPC EHS requirements.

  • Provide EHS support to contractor selection, award and performance management process to drive optimal EHS performance.
  • Lead focused audits of contractor systems and during execution phase.
  • Ensure development and implementation of bridging document with critical contractors. (Drilling, projects and service providers).

Improve safety behaviors and EHS awareness.

  • Provide EHS awareness training on different EHS aspects.
  • Promote, coach, mentor and train all staff for the KPC safety observation program.
  • Provide constructive feedback and acknowledge contributions, efforts and workforce.
  • Develop emergency scenarios, and ensure emergency exercise are being conducted according to emergency drills matrix.
  • Advise the facility team on procedural changes and promote all safety initiatives.
  • Deliver and participate in monthly safety meetings.
  • Stand down co-workers, contractors or the public if recognizes any unsafe act on Apache / KPC - operated property.
  • Support the delivery of auditable project risk register and coaches resources in execution of risk reduction controls and ensure close-out of all risk.
  • Undertake EHS inductions for personnel visiting the facility and all new joiners.
  • Monitor the implementation of training programs to ensure appropriate EHS training is provided for relevant functions within the field.

Incident reporting and investigation

  • Participate in and support any serious or HIPO incident investigations.
  • Ensure initial reports for all incidents /NMS are completed and sent within 24 hrs.
  • Ensure all detailed final incident / NMs are completed and sent within the required time frame.
  • Ensure communicating the lessons learnt from incidents across the field.
  • Track & report actions from RCA.
  • Maintain incident database and prepare reports and statistics to meet internal & external reporting requirements.
  • Lead EHS audits, safety inspections and hygiene reviews.
  • Develop, maintain and implement an annual audit program. Monitor compliance with the audit program and provide regular status update to senior management.
  • Ensure the daily permit audit schedule is followed and coach auditors in the completion of PTW audits.
  • Ensure scheduled safety inspections and planned audits are completed.
  • Participate in regular hygiene reviews.
  • Lead level 1 EHS audits on contractors EHS MS.

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Academic qualifications: BSC in Science or BSC in Engineering.
  • Years of experience: 10+ years of experience in oil & gas industry, with 5 years in leadership / management role.
  • Practical & proven experience in the delivery of field technical EHS support roles.
  • Proven certified or experience of incident investigation and RCA.
  • Experience in "crisis management".
  • NEBOSH international general certificate.
  • Lead auditor ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
  • Process safety management is an advance.
  • Have experience in Behavior Based Safety programs such as "Dupont Stop".
