Job Summary:

The Laboratory & EHS Support Assistant will be primarily responsible for implementing and monitoring Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements across laboratory and production areas, while also providing support for basic laboratory operations. The role ensures that the facility operates in compliance with national regulations, company standards, and international best practices in workplace safety and environmental management.

Key Responsibilities:

EHS Responsibilities:

Implement and monitor compliance with all EHS policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (DRAP, PESSI, EOBI, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, etc.).

Conduct routine safety inspections of laboratory and production areas.

Maintain and update EHS documentation, including incident reports, safety audits, risk assessments, and compliance logs.

Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal in compliance with SOPs and legal standards.

Ensure proper usage, availability, and record-keeping of PPE for all employees.

Conduct EHS inductions and awareness sessions for staff.

Coordinate emergency preparedness drills (fire, chemical spill, etc.).

Report and investigate incidents, near-misses, and unsafe practices; implement corrective and preventive actions.

Laboratory Support Duties:

Assist with basic laboratory housekeeping, including cleaning and washing of labware.

Support in organizing laboratory paperwork, records, and filing systems.

Help maintain lab consumables and supplies inventory.

Provide general support to QC staff as required.

Qualifications & Skills:

Bachelor’s degree / Diploma in Environmental Sciences, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related EHS discipline.

Certification in ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 / NEBOSH / OSHA preferred.

1–2 years of relevant experience in EHS implementation within manufacturing or laboratory environments (fresh graduates with internships may also apply).

Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and compliance requirements.

Good documentation and reporting skills.

Responsible, proactive, and detail-oriented.
