JOB PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE
The E&I Work Preparation Snr. Superintendent is the overall responsible for the team of E&I work preparators under him/her. Work preparation includes identifying the scope of work, quantifying it, including type and length of cables, cable penetrations (MCTs) cable trays, generators, alternators, switchboards AC/DC motors, rewinding, A/C repair, instrumentation, automation, navigation, safety-Solas, ICCP cathodic protection. manhours breakdowns, total duration of repair, receiving client signatures on proposed diagrams, preparing the materials list, making the required requisitions, following up with the work in progress and closure of the work and related documentation. The E&I Work Preparation Snr. Superintendent is responsible for the effective use of his resources to meet production targets and project contractual commitments. He/she is also responsible for all procedural matters relevant to the section.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Adhere to, reinforce, and promote IMI Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Policies.
- Serve as the focal point within the department for all relevant planning operations.
- Coordinate lump sum subcontractor activities. Develop and maintain department man-hour resource plans.
- Coordinate with other discipline management to prepare project progress tracking and reporting as directed by the departmental Manager. Update the vessels files for E&I repairs. Capture all actual as fitted electrical stuff as at the end of repair associated with initial SOW for commercial purposes.
- Identify the scope of work from the owner's specifications, tenders, work lists, inspection onboard the vessels and at workshop.
- Track overall E&I materials , optimize the usage of material based on BOM, and minimize and control the waste of material.
- Responsible for submission in time of proposals/drawings for approval prior to commencing the work.
- Prepare the detailed scope of work, work packages, specifications in case of work outsourcing to external parties.
- Liaise with the engineering team as needed. Monitor the progress achieved and the man-hours consumed and alert any potential overshoot of the targets.
- Analyze planning data and modify as required to achieve time based and resource limited based target scheduling.
- Train, motivate, appraise and provide feedback on training requirements to improve the skill of subordinates
- Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices considering 'international best practice', improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement
- Develop/maintain and ensure an efficient method of recording / identifying all items entering / leaving the E&I workshop.
- Identify the nature/requirement of repairs through consultation with the required stakeholders. Discuss ways and methods of carrying out jobs, attend class inspections and clear any arising points.
- Define priorities and organize distribution of men accordingly. Assist subordinates to solve technical problems as and when required.
- Control overtime working and ensure limits as determined by Management are not exceeded
- Interpret Company's Rules and Regulations in instances of indiscipline and apply such controls on a fair basis within the limits of his authority.
- Advise the E&I Manager regularly on how the section operates and suggestions for improving efficiency.
- Co-operate with other management/supervision to coordinate repairs of the items brought ashore/or onboard according to the project commitments.
- Attend daily meetings on board with Owner's Representatives and Project Managers as required to follow up progress of the work. Discuss and agree on phases of work, programs and job completion dates.
- Provide plan and visibility of resources for all projects under his domain Prepare the overall materials man-hours, drawings and updating mark-up drawings
- Develop work descriptions.
- Develop presentations and present to management as required.
- Perform other relevant tasks as directed by reporting management
Education
Bachelor's degree in relevant electrical engineering discipline, or relative diploma with the required extensive experience.
