Position Overview
In this role, you will support the engineering team by producing high-quality drafting deliverables for instrumentation and control (I&C) systems across multiple water and wastewater projects. You will work closely with Project Managers and Project Engineers and other drafters to produce panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs using AutoCAD Electrical and AutoCAD Plant 3D. While you may assist with design decisions, your primary responsibility will be managing the production of drawing sets and documentation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Drafting & Design Execution
- Draft, edit, and finalize design plans and details using efficient methods and adhering to Inframark drafting standards.
- Perform the design and drafting of electrical drawings for control and network panels.
- Create panel layout, wiring, and loop drawings based on redlines and engineer-provided markups.
- Analyze sketches, notes, and other input material to produce accurate P&IDs in AutoCAD Plant 3D.
- Generate accurate bills of materials based on completed drawings.
- Maintain and update CAD standards, drawing templates and libraries keeping current with industry changes
- Track and organize drawing sets through project phases to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Collaboration & Project Support
- Collaborate closely with Project Engineers and Project Managers to meet project drafting requirements.
- Address feedback from Engineers and Owners, ensuring all submittal comments are resolved.
- Manage the production of drawing sets from initial creation through markup and final approval.
- Conduct site visits to document field conditions and guide design decisions.
- Provide ongoing support from project kickoff through startup and closeout.
Documentation & Compliance
- Create As Installed Record documents (panel drawings, loop drawings, network diagrams).
- Ensure field changes are incorporated into final submittals.
- Stay proficient in CADD software tools and related applications, staying up-to-date with the latest features and techniques to enhance productivity and efficiency in drafting and design tasks.
- Remain up-to-date on UL508A and NEC standards for control panel and electrical system design.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
- Associate’s degree in drafting, design, or related field
- Minimum of five (5) years related experience in an engineering setting, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Water/wastewater industry experience is a plus.
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical. Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D is a plus.
- Ability to read, understand, and accurately reproduce complex electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams.
- Familiarity with industrial automation hardware (PLCs, VFDs, relays, sensors).
- Ability to work with mathematical fundamentals such as geometry, trigonometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Ability to occasionally use higher-level commands, timesaving programs, and routines in AutoCAD Electrical and Plant 3D.
- Basic knowledge of standard electrical panel construction materials and methods.
Certifications
- Autodesk AutoCAD Certified Professional (within last 3 years) preferred.

- Ability to effectively present information to project teams and clients.
- Professional demeanor with clear writing and email skills.
Other Requirements
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and satisfactory driving record for business travel.
- Ability to pass background check and initial/random drug screenings.
- Attention to detail and ability to consistently produce accurate, quality work.
- Ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance.
Physical Demands
- Frequent use of phone and email; prolonged sitting for computer work.
- Hearing and vision within normal ranges to inspect documents and digital drawings.
- Minimal to no heavy lifting; typical office and field-visit environments.
Work Environment
- Primarily office-based at an Inframark facility, with periodic onsite visits to project locations.
- Must be comfortable transitioning between office and industrial settings (e.g., water/wastewater treatment plants).
Travel
- Approximately 20% travel for site visits, customer meetings, and other project-related needs.
