Job Purpose:
The Electrical Commissioning Lead will supervise and manage field commissioning activities for electrical systems within large-scale oil and gas facilities. This role ensures all systems are tested, energized, and handed over in accordance with project standards, schedule, and HSE requirements.
Key Objectives:

Lead and supervise electrical commissioning technicians and ensure safe, timely, and efficient execution of all commissioning activities.

Promote and enforce Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards and best practices across all work areas.

Ensure systems meet design and operational requirements prior to handover.
Key Performance Indicators:

Achievement of HSE objectives.

Adherence to commissioning schedule and uptime targets.

Accuracy of planning and reporting.
Main Responsibilities:
-
Populate, verify, and update the completions database (CCMS); resolve any discrepancies with the Engineering Department.

Review and update ITRs (Inspection Test Records) and FTRs (Functional Test Records) for electrical systems.

Prepare and review Operational Test Procedures (OTPs) for electrical commissioning.

Review vendor documentation including installation procedures, spares lists, and O&M manuals.

Supervise electrical commissioning technicians during ITR-B/FTR execution, energization tests, and operational verifications.

Ensure compliance with PTW (Permit to Work) systems, LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out), and site electrical safety procedures.

Coordinate and witness pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, FAT/SAT, and equipment energization.

Interface with construction teams to resolve punch lists, close outstanding documentation, and update as-built records.

Ensure availability of tools, consumables, and spares for daily activities.

Lead handover documentation process and coordinate system handovers to operations.

Manage and control access to substations and electrical areas, ensuring only authorized personnel are permitted entry.

Participate actively in PTW, SIMOPS, and pre-startup review meetings.

Provide technical support during plant startup and performance testing.

Qualifications & Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
-
10–15 years of experience in electrical commissioning within oil and gas or heavy industrial projects.

Proven experience delivering multiple large-scale oil and gas projects.
-
Strong knowledge of electrical safety rules, ATEX standards, and industry best practices.

Familiarity with electrical systems including switchgear, UPS, transformers, generators, and EMS.

Competency in using completions management systems (CCMS) and documentation control tools.

Demonstrated ability to lead teams and coordinate activities across multiple stakeholders.
