Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Covington, Georgia

Buy Rate: $50/hr

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical background within Electrical Engineering, System design, medical device sustenance, or similar.
  • Provide technical support for electrical systems in deployed medical devices.
  • Investigate and resolve field issues, ensuring minimal downtime and patient impact.
  • Ensure all electrical changes comply with medical device regulations (e.g., IEC 60601).
  • Maintain and update design history files (DHF), device master records (DMR), and risk management documentation.
  • Monitor lifecycle of electrical components and proactively manage obsolescence.
  • Identify, evaluate, and validate alternate components with minimal impact to device performance and regulatory status.
  • Drive Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for electrical updates, ensuring traceability and proper approvals.
  • Update schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and test protocols as needed.
  • Hands-on experience or knowledge in LabVIEW for test automation and data acquisition.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence across disciplines, for example: interdepartmental (with fellow engineers), cross-functional (with Marketing, Clinical Representatives, Software Engineers, Test Engineers, Quality Engineers, Manufacturing, Regulatory, etc.)
  • Support verification and validation (V&V) of electrical changes, including EMC, safety, and functional testing.
  • Ensure test protocols align with regulatory and internal quality standards.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve electrical component issues and ensure quality.
  • Support manufacturing teams with troubleshooting, yield improvement, and process optimization.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for electrical failures using tools and Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and verify effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to ensure feasibility and smooth implementation of design changes.
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation including updated schematics, BOMs, test protocols, and change records.
  • Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance to ensure the tool improvements.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/ Electronics Engineering or a related field.
  • Good understanding analog, digital, and power electronics hardware architectures and design
  • Experience in design tools such as Altium, OrCAD, or similar for schematic and PCB design.
  • 3–6 years of experience in electrical system or medical device, test systems, or Sustenance Engineering within a manufacturing or R&D environment.
  • Experience with test automation, data acquisition systems, and calibration protocols.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to design and debug complex electrical schematics and PCB layouts and propose clear, relevant experiments.

Time zone

  • Location: Covington, Georgia. This role requires on-site and in-lab presence, five days a week, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM PDT (Pacific Daylight Time)
