Job Description
The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, review, and coordination of electrical systems for Oil & Gas projects, ensuring compliance with international standards, client specifications, and GCC authority requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop electrical designs for Oil & Gas facilities including substations, process plants, utilities, and offsite facilities.
- Prepare concept, FEED, detailed design, and IFC electrical drawings and documents.
- Design and calculate LV, MV, and HV systems including power distribution, lighting, earthing, lightning protection, and cathodic protection interfaces.
- Perform load calculations, short circuit analysis, voltage drop, motor starting, and protection coordination studies.
- Prepare single line diagrams, cable schedules, cable routing layouts, and equipment layouts.
- Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, API, NFPA, NEC, and relevant GCC authority standards.
- Review vendor drawings, datasheets, and technical submittals for compliance with project specifications.
- Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Instrumentation, Civil, and HSE disciplines.
- Support HAZOP, SIL, and other safety and design review workshops.
- Respond to technical queries, RFIs, and support construction-stage engineering.
- Assist in authority submissions and address comments from clients and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure designs are delivered in accordance with consultancy quality procedures and project schedules.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 8+ years of electrical design experience in Oil & Gas projects.
- Proven experience working on GCC projects with engineering consultancies.
- Strong knowledge of LV/MV/HV systems and Oil & Gas design practices.
- Proficiency in electrical design software (ETAP, SKM, DIgSILENT or equivalent).
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD; familiarity with SmartPlant, AVEVA, or BIM tools is an advantage.
- Solid understanding of hazardous area classification and explosion-proof equipment.
- Good knowledge of international codes and standards applicable to Oil & Gas projects.
- Strong coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight project deadlines.
- Immediate availability preferred.
