The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for delivering complete electrical design solutions for Low Voltage (LV) and Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems for building projects. The role involves design development from concept through authority approvals and construction support, with close coordination with consultants, contractors, and statutory authorities, while ensuring full compliance with UAE and international codes.
Key Responsibilities
· Perform complete electrical design and engineering for LV and ELV systems for residential, commercial, and mixed-use building projects.
· Prepare and review electrical calculations, studies, and design reports, including load schedules, short-circuit, voltage drop, cable sizing, lighting, earthing, and lightning protection calculations.
· Develop electrical design deliverables including Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), layouts, schematics, panel schedules, and technical specifications.
· Coordinate with architectural, structural, mechanical, and other disciplines to ensure fully integrated building designs.
· Review contractor and vendor submittals, including shop drawings, material submissions, method statements, and technical data, and provide recommendations or approvals.
· Support authority submissions and approvals in compliance with UAE regulations and international standards.
· Work within BIM-based design environments, coordinate electrical models, and ensure consistency between BIM models and issued design documents.
· Ensure all designs comply with project quality, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
· Participate in design reviews, technical workshops, and coordination meetings with project stakeholders.
Experience & Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
· 8–10 years of relevant experience in electrical design, preferably within consultancy or developer organizations.
· Proven capability in delivering complete LV and ELV electrical designs for building projects.
· Strong knowledge of UAE authority requirements and approval processes (e.g., DEWA, ADDC, SEWA) and international standards such as IEC, BS, NEC, and NFPA.
· Practical experience working within BIM ecosystems and coordinated design environments.
· Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant electrical design and calculation software.
Preferred
· Professional certifications and/or local authority approvals.
· Experience working on mid- to large-scale residential and commercial developments.
