Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer-Industrial Automation
Job Summary
The Electrical Design Engineer – Automation is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting electrical and control systems for industrial automation equipment and machinery. The role involves electrical schematic design, component selection, PLC/controls integration, and coordination with in-house teams and external vendors to deliver reliable and compliant automation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design electrical schematics, control panels, and wiring diagrams for automation systems
- Select and size electrical components including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servos, sensors, and safety devices
- Develop BOMs, cable schedules, I/O lists, and panel layout drawings
- Perform power calculations, grounding, and protection device selection
- Ensure compliance with automation and electrical standards (IEC, UL, CE, NEC, ISO)
- Support panel wiring, machine assembly, testing, and commissioning activities
- Troubleshoot electrical and control issues during FAT, SAT, and site installation
- Work closely with PLC programmers, mechanical designers, and production teams
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering
- 2–7 years of experience in electrical design for industrial automation
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar ECAD tools
- Strong knowledge of PLC-based control systems and industrial components
- Ability to read and interpret automation electrical standards and drawings
