JOB SUMMARY:
The Electrical Controls Designer will work with a multi-disciplined team of engineers to provide electrical design packages for PLC and VFD control panels.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Design PLC control panels and VFD enclosures
- Proficient with AutoCAD
- Develop neat, well-organized drawings meeting established standards
- Self-motivated to research assigned projects, new drafting techniques and increase job related knowledge
- Communicate any issues or design mistakes found with dimensions and constructability to the Project Manager during drawing development along with the correct solution
- Develop work products that require a minimum of “rework” due either to errors/omissions or poor visual presentation
- Specify panel components
- Assist with equipment material submittals
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Proficient knowledge of NEC electrical code as it pertains to panel design, power circuit layout and grounding
- Ability to work on several projects simultaneously with varying scopes and effectively prioritize workload to ensure deliverables are met
- Strong interpersonal, listening, questioning and communication skills (written and oral)
- Strong work ethic, ability to learn hands-on, and attention to detail is critical
- Ability to multi-task and work cross-functionally
- Knowledge of UL508 and UL698 standards, a plus
- Knowledge of Arc Flash and Short Circuit rating calculations for control panels, a plus
- Knowledge of Harmonic analysis for VFD panels, a plus
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates degree or certificate of completion from an accredited drafting program
- Five (5) or more years of drafting experience including scaling, drawing layout, lettering and a high degree of accuracy
- Two (2) or more years of electrical designer experience including development of schematics, wiring diagrams, and material lists

Pay: $80,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
