The Electrical & ELV Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical power and Extra-Low Voltage (ELV) systems throughout the theme park. This role ensures safe, reliable operation of rides, attractions, facilities, and support systems while complying with local regulations, quality standards, and industry best practices.

This position combines traditional electrical engineering duties (power distribution, lighting, electrical safety) with ELV system responsibilities (CCTV, access control, fire alarms, communications, structured cabling) relevant to theme park infrastructure and Guest experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Electrical Systems

  • Design, install, and maintain electrical distribution systems for park facilities, operations areas, ride control panels, lighting, and power outlets.
  • Oversee electrical load calculations, short-circuit studies, and panel board schedules.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety standards applicable in Qatar.
  • Conduct periodic inspections, preventive maintenance, testing & commissioning of electrical assets.
  • Coordinate with ride manufacturers and electrical subcontractors on system interfaces and safety.
  • Prepare and review electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.

ELV (Extra-Low Voltage) Systems

  • Design, install, test, commission, and maintain ELV systems including:
  • CCTV & video surveillance (park security and guest safety)
  • Access control (restricted zones, staff areas)
  • Fire alarm & life safety systems
  • Structured cabling (LAN, VoIP, fiber backbone)
  • Public address (PA) & background music systems
  • Intrusion detection and monitoring
  • Integration with Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Prepare technical submittals, BOQs, method statements, and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Troubleshoot ELV system faults and coordinate upgrades or enhancements.

Project & Coordination

  • Work closely with project planners, consultants, contractors, and theme park operations teams to coordinate installations and minimize impact on park activities.
  • Supervise site works, verify quality of installation, and ensure deliverables meet specifications.
  • Liaise with local authorities (e.g., Civil Defence, safety inspectors) for inspections and approvals.
  • Prepare as-built drawings, commissioning reports, system manuals, and handover documentation.
  • Provide training and technical support to maintenance teams and operators.

Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to safety guidelines and promote safe working practices for electrical and ELV work activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Qatar standards, Civil Defence requirements, and relevant codes of practice.
  • Participate in risk assessments and implement corrective actions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree / diploma in Electrical, Electronics, or Telecommunications Engineering.
  • Proven experience (5 to 8+ years) in electrical and ELV systems, preferably in large-scale facilities, entertainment, hospitality, or theme park environments.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution, power protection, grounding/earthing, and ELV technologies.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
  • Proficiency with design and engineering software tools (AutoCAD, ETAP, etc.).
  • Experience in commissioning, system integration, and maintenance activities.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and coordination abilities with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with network basics (IP addressing, switches, structured cabling).
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications in ELV systems (e.g., CCTV, fire alarm systems, networking).
  • Familiarity with Qatar Civil Defence and local code requirements.
  • Experience with theme parks, amusement rides, or entertainment facilities.
  • UPDA or professional engineering registration (if applicable).
