Job Purpose:
To design, install, test, maintain, and oversee all electrical systems and equipment on ships and ensure compliance with maritime standards, safety regulations, and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, plan, and implement shipboard electrical systems (power generation, distribution, lighting, navigation, automation, and communication).
- Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and documentation in compliance with classification society rules and international standards.
- Conduct installation, commissioning, and testing of electrical equipment and systems onboard ships.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve electrical issues during construction, trials, and service periods.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures, marine regulations, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with design, mechanical, and production teams to integrate electrical systems with overall ship design.
- Supervise technicians and contractors during electrical installation and maintenance work.
- Carry out inspections, audits, and preventive maintenance planning.
- Keep updated with new technologies, IMO (International Maritime Organization) guidelines, and shipbuilding industry practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Marine Engineering (Electrical specialization).
- Prior experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, or marine industry preferred.
- Knowledge of PLCs, control systems, and marine safety standards will be an advantage.
