Responsibilities:
The following duties are typical of the position but are not all encompassing. Responsibilities include those required to deliver quality service on schedule and within budget in a team environment.
  • Design electrical systems for data centers with optimized PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness), including power distribution strategies from utility service to IT equipment compliant with U.S. standards (NEC, NFPA, IEEE, TIA and uptime institute standards).
  • Develop single-line diagrams, load calculations, equipment sizing calculations, short-circuit analysis, arc-flash studies, and electrical layouts using tools like ETAP, SKM, & Revit.
  • Develop specifications for electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, emergency power systems (MV / LV generators, UPS systems), busways, and PDUs
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure designs meet client requirements, local codes, and sustainability goals.
  • Review vendor submittals, RFIs, and construction documents to ensure technical accuracy and adherence to project timelines.
  • Coordinate multi-discipline inputs (civil/structural, telecom, automation) and interface with utilities, and client engineering teams.
  • Lead QA/QC reviews, check deliverables from junior engineers/designers, and enforce internal standards and best practices.
  • Stay updated with emerging U.S. trends in data center technologies (e.g., liquid cooling, renewable integration, modular designs).
Qualifications:
What will you bring?
  • 7–10 years of hands-on data center electrical design for US projects (hyperscale, colo, or enterprise), and/or industrial projects from schematic through IFC and construction support.
  • Strong command of NEC and NEMA standards; working knowledge of NFPA 70E, NFPA 110; familiarity with Uptime Institute Tier criteria and TIA-942.
  • Exceptional communication and coordination abilities.
  • Must be adaptable to work during evening hours to ensure communication with stakeholders in the USA.
Education & Certifications:

  • B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering (required).
  • OSHA/NFPA 70E training; Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer (ATD) is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience delivering Tier III/Tier IV or TIA-942 Rated-3/4 facilities and live-site upgrades.
  • Exposure to campus-scale distribution, on-site HV substations, BESS/microgrids, and renewable integration.
  • Familiarity with NERC PRC/CIP considerations for on-site substations and EPMS/SCADA (as applicable).
  • BIM coordination (Revit, Navisworks/Clash)
  • Prior EPC/design-build experience exposure.
Tools/Software:

  • Power studies: SKM Power Tools/ ETAP.
  • CAD/BIM: AutoCAD, Revit; Navisworks for clash detection.
  • Relay/controls: SEL Acselerator.
