POSITION: Electrical Engineer II

JOB PROFILE: 200046

REPORTS TO: Engineering Leader

DEPARTMENT : Electrical Engineering

Alpine Laser, a division of Machine Solutions that specializes in precision laser processing workstations (such as the Medicut PRO Series) for medical device manufacturing. This includes laser tube cutting, micromachining, ablation, drilling, and related processes for components like stents, hypotubes, catheters, and other interventional devices.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

Tests, troubleshoots, and supports electrical/electronic systems in precision laser processing equipment, including motion control, laser integration, optics, and related sub-systems. In this role, you will have a broad scope of responsibility encompassing the design, modification, and maintenance of complete electrical schematic packages for laser workstations using SolidWorks Electrical , including multi-page schematics, wiring diagrams, terminal plans, bill of materials, and associated documentation. Additional responsibilities include designing and building electrical test fixtures for laser systems, developing and executing test plans for laser performance and safety, writing test reports, and performing component-level troubleshooting on complex laser-enabled workstations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for overseeing testing, coordination, and compilation of technical files and documentation required for CDRH/FDA submissions and CE marking, including laser safety, electrical safety, performance validation, and compliance certifications. Must be able to travel if there is a need but no more than 10%

  • Demonstrates a deeper understanding of electrical/electronic systems, motion control platforms, laser power delivery, galvo/optics integration, and associated mechanical/pneumatic subsystems in precision laser workstations.

  • Plays a key role in product validation for laser processing equipment, overseeing testing procedures (including beam quality, cut quality, repeatability, and safety), and communicating with external laboratories.

  • Evaluates and implements improvements to laser processing methods, motion systems, and production processes.

  • Provides technical guidance and mentorship to junior electrical engineers

  • May be responsible for leading small-to-medium-sized projects or initiatives related to laser workstation enhancements or new configurations.

  • Investigates customer complaints related to laser system performance and executes resolutions to problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Has 3-5 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering,

  • Fluent in Solidworks Electrical , ideally with a experience in laser systems, precision motion control, optical/electrical integration, or related technologies in manufacturing equipment.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (BS) in electrical engineering or equivalent; five or more years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, schematics, interconnects assembly and part drawings or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, rations, and proportions to practical situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

With or without reasonable accommodation minimal time will be spent walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching. Sometime will be spent standing, sitting, talking, and hearing, and using hands to handle, feel and reach. At times up to 50 pounds will need to be lifted.

To effectively complete the tasks in this position the following vision requirements are needed:

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Minimal time will be spent in wet or humid conditions, and near caustic or toxic chemicals. Sometime will be spent working near moving mechanical parts. The noise level is moderate (examples: business offices with computers and printers).
