Electrical Engineer (PE) – Solar Projects
Permanent, Full-Time

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer (with active Professional Engineer license) to support the design, engineering, and technical oversight of solar energy projects. The position will predominantly support commercial ground-mount solar installations, with additional exposure to utility-scale, rooftop, and projects incorporating Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This is a full-time, salaried position based out of our San Jose, CA office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead electrical engineering efforts throughout project lifecycle—from conceptual design through commissioning.
  • Develop and review electrical system drawings, one-line diagrams, power distribution layouts, grounding systems, and interconnection designs.
  • Perform electrical load calculations, conductor sizing, and protection device coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, local permitting requirements, and renewable energy interconnection standards.
  • Stamp drawings and documents as required, serving as Engineer of Record.
  • Coordinate with development, construction, procurement, and permitting teams to support project schedules and deliverables.
  • Interface with utilities regarding interconnection applications and technical review.
  • Provide engineering support during construction including RFI responses, design adjustments, and technical problem solving.
  • Participate in value engineering efforts to optimize performance, cost, and constructability.
  • Assist with BESS integration design and power control strategies where applicable.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • 5+ years of electrical engineering experience within the renewable energy, commercial solar, or power generation sectors.
  • Experience with commercial ground-mount solar; exposure to utility-scale solar, rooftop systems, and/or BESS projects preferred.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and common electrical design software.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, electrical codes, and interconnection processes.
  • Prior involvement in construction or field engineering is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
