Electrical Engineer - Power Systems Engineer
Role Summary
Join a team of exceptional engineers as a motivated Electrical Engineer and Technical Lead, driving solutions to complex, large-scale data center power challenges. You will lead technical programs spanning on-site power generation, battery energy storage systems (BESS), microgrids, advanced UPS architectures, and power system stability for HPC/AI data centers.
This role shapes executive decision-making, aligns cross-functional stakeholders, and sets the technical direction for power infrastructure, on-site generation, and energy storage across the fleet.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical
- 12+ years of experience in HV/MV infrastructure design, power systems engineering, on-site generation, BESS, and microgrids.
- 3+ years of experience with large-scale data center MV/LV distribution system.
- Experience designing large-scale facilities served by behind-the-meter (BTM), islanded on-site generation integrated with inverter-based resources such as BESS, supercapacitors, or similar technologies.
- Strong understanding of power system protection, relaying, and substation design/operation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of power quality and dynamic system behavior, with experience navigating utility requirements and grid compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior executives and align engineering, construction, and operations teams in highly complex environments
Preferred qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems
- Experience designing and implementing protection & control (P&C) systems.
- Proficiency with advanced power simulation tools such as PSS/E, and PSCAD
Key Responsibilities
Own electrical outcomes for high-complexity, high-impact programs driving technical decisions, managing tradeoffs, and integrating input from multiple stakeholders.
- Provide electrical technical leadership to resolve critical power-related issues and reduce recurrence through root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Architect and support on-site generation systems (gas turbines, reciprocating engines), including fuel systems, emissions controls, and heat-recovery integration.
- Lead electrical discipline execution across design and delivery, optimizing scope, schedule, and quality, commissioning readiness; provide feedback to partner teams to improve standards and guidelines
- Partner with architects to develop future-state data center power architecture concepts and reference designs.
- Evaluate emerging generation and storage technologies, identifying the most practical and scalable paths to deployment.
- Lead the evaluation and adoption of new power technologies (e.g., fuel cells, advanced battery storage systems, microgrid controllers, solid-state transformers) and develop guidelines and standards
- Lead troubleshooting of complex electrical system events
