Electrical Engineer UPDA B

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Operation & Maintenance (O&M) of HV/LV substations and power systems.
• Valid UPDA (Grade B) certification or KAHRAMAA approval is mandatory.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, monitor, and carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of all electrical equipment as per the approved maintenance schedule.
• Supervise and manage supervisors and technicians, ensuring work is carried out safely and efficiently.
• Operate HV and LV switchgear safely and in compliance with standard operating procedures.
• Perform busbar coupling operations, ensuring all safety procedures and load calculations are completed prior to execution.
• Take immediate action, on own responsibility, to isolate or clear equipment that poses an imminent risk to personnel safety or equipment integrity.
• Ensure strong safety awareness, enforce safety practices within the team, and take corrective actions when required.
• Recommend improvements to operating and maintenance procedures.
• Interpret and utilize manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and coordinate with engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve system issues.
• Perform protection relay coordination, including uploading and downloading relay settings.
• Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean substation equipment as instructed by superiors.
• Participate in training programs, safety sessions, toolbox talks, pre-shift meetings, and other mandatory site activities.
• Operate and maintain testing instruments, tools, and electrical measuring equipment.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns promptly and efficiently.
• Maintain daily maintenance logs, records, and reports accurately.
• Work safely under all site conditions, adhering strictly to HSE standards and regulations.
