Electrical Engineer/Designer

Overview
We are seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer/Designer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and troubleshooting complex electrical systems for diverse construction projects. Your expertise will help ensure that electrical designs meet safety standards, project specifications, and client expectations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your technical skills in a fast-paced environment while contributing to innovative solutions that keep projects moving forward.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering & Design
  • Develop electrical designs including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and control systems

Project Support

  • Provide technical support to project managers and field supervisors
  • Respond to RFIs and review submittals
  • Assist in material specification and equipment selection
  • Support procurement with technical review of major equipment
  • Participate in project kickoff and coordination meetings

Estimating & Preconstruction Support

  • Assist with takeoffs and cost estimates
  • Support design-build and value engineering initiatives
  • Evaluate alternative equipment or installation methods to improve efficiency

Field & Commissioning Support

  • Conduct site visits to verify installation quality and compliance
  • Assist with system troubleshooting and startup
  • Support commissioning and testing activities
  • Resolve technical issues encountered during construction

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate project documentation
  • Ensure drawings reflect as-built conditions
  • Support inspection processes and authority approvals
  • Adhere to company safety standards and policies
  • Prepare load calculations, short circuit and coordination studies (as required)
  • Produce and review single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and equipment layouts
  • Review drawings and specifications for accuracy and constructability
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, local codes, and client standards
  • Coordinate with local utility companies (all jurisdictions in the SA & Austin areas)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • Degree in electrical engineering or related field

Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in commercial or industrial electrical projects with a PE license
  • Experience working with electrical contractors & general contractors
  • Experience in design-build environments
  • Experience working with SA/Austin utility providers

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of NEC and electrical codes
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (preferred), and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with SKM, ETAP, or similar power analysis software (preferred)
  • Understanding of construction processes and field operations

Licensure

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license

· Strong understanding of electrical systems and codes (NEC knowledge required).

· Proficient with applicable software (Revit, AutoCAD, ETAP, EasyPower, Bluebeam, Excel and/or similar programs).

· Knowledge and experience working with SA/Austin utility providers and of their standards

· Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

· Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

PHYSICAL & WORK REQUIREMENTS:

  • Office based with numerus site visits.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (occasionally)
  • Must comply with all safety requirements for jobsite access
  • Ability to read construction drawings for extended periods.
  • Will require travel to job sites and customer locations.

Experience:
