JOB OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE:


  • Assist the Electrical Area In-Charge  supervisor or engineer in troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair activities for all electrical equipment and field devices in the cement plant.
  • Carry out complex electrical repairs and maintenance tasks beyond the scope of electricians.
  • Supervise, allocate, and monitor daily maintenance work for assigned technicians, ensuring timely and efficient job completion.
  • Ensure proper cleaning, adjustment, lubrication, and inspection of electrical components and systems and all preventive maintenance activities .
  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure all work complies with electrical safety standards and plant procedures.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance for all electrical systems within the plant.
  • Troubleshoot and repair faults in power and control circuits, including MV/LV systems.
  • Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment such as motors, transformers, switchgear, UPS, battery chargers, and control panels.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with mechanical, production and instrumentation to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all maintenance work, including job reports, material requests, and work completion records.
  • Monitor equipment performance and suggest improvements for reliability and efficiency.
  • Implement and enforce plant safety procedures and electrical isolation (LOTO) practices.
  • Train and guide electricians and technicians to improve technical competence and work efficiency.
  • Participate in planned shutdowns and support major overhauls of plant electrical systems.


SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Strong working knowledge of electrical machinery and equipment operation and maintenance, including:
  • MV/LV motors, HT/MV/LV switchgear
  • Power and distribution transformers and circuits
  • UPS systems, battery chargers, and elevators
  • Overhead cranes (OHC), ACBs, air compressors, and electrostatic precipitators (EP), air conditioning systems
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting control and power faults.
  • Familiarity with Soft Starters, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Diesel Generators, and Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS).
  • Understanding of electrical control circuits and drawings (MV/LV).
  • Knowledge of electrical protection systems and relays.
  • Ability to lead and supervise maintenance teams, plan work schedules, and ensure adherence to maintenance standards.
  • Good understanding of electrical safety procedures and correct use of tools and test instruments.
  • Competence in record keeping, report writing, and using maintenance management systems.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Education: 3 years Diploma in Electrical power
  • Experience: 15 years of related experience, at least 7 years in cement plant  or equivalent mining industries
  • Language: good written and spoken English, Arabic useful
