Electrical Foreman-Substation

Purpose:

To ensure the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) installation, testing, and commissioning works for 380kV substations, while supervising all site activities and maintaining compliance with safety and project standards.


Key Accountabilities:

1. Supervision and Execution:

  • Supervise and lead site teams in the installation, assembly, and maintenance of 380kV GIS equipment.
  • Oversee erection activities including GIS bays, circuit breakers, disconnectors, busbars, and associated equipment.
  • Ensure all installation works are carried out as per approved drawings, procedures, and project schedules.
  • Coordinate with engineers and subcontractors for smooth execution of substation activities.

2. Technical Proficiency:

  • Read and interpret GIS layout drawings, single line diagrams (SLD), GA drawings, and vendor manuals.
  • Supervise alignment, leveling, and assembly of GIS components.
  • Ensure proper handling of SF6 gas, including filling, testing, and leakage checks as per standards.
  • Assist in pre-commissioning and commissioning activities such as functional checks and inspections.

3. Site Management:

  • Plan daily site activities and allocate manpower, tools, and equipment effectively.
  • Monitor progress and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Coordinate with site engineers for inspections, testing, and approvals.
  • Maintain site records, reports, and documentation as required.


Qualifications / Requirements:


Knowledge and Experience:

  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in high-voltage substations, preferably GIS (220kV–380kV) .
  • Strong experience in GIS installation, erection, and commissioning activities.
  • Good understanding of substation construction practices and safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and vendor documentation.
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.


Education and Certifications:

  • Diploma or vocational training in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications in high-voltage or substation work are an advantage.
