Electrical Inspector ITS

Electrical Inspector – ITS (Roads, Bridges & Infrastructure).

Role Purpose

As an Electrical Inspector – Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) at CDM Smith, you will perform day-to-day site inspections and quality assurance for electrical and ITS installations across roads, bridges, and infrastructure projects. You will ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, codes, and client standards, while upholding CDM Smith’s commitments to safety, quality, sustainability, and client service.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily inspections for electrical and ITS works on roads, bridges, tunnels (if applicable), and related infrastructure per approved shop drawings, method statements, and ITPs.
• Verify installation, routing, and termination of LV/ELV and ITS devices: CCTV, VMS, ANPR/LPR, traffic detectors, PLCs/controllers, field cabinets, power distribution boards, weather stations, Bluetooth/Wi‑Fi sensors, emergency phones, and fiber optic systems.
• Witness and document testing & commissioning (T&C): continuity, insulation resistance, OTDR, end-to-end fiber tests, grounding/earthing, loop tests, functional and integration tests with SCADA/CMS/ATMS.
• Check materials and workmanship against approved submittals and specifications; raise NCRs/SNs and follow through to closure.
• Monitor traffic diversion works for protection/relocation of power/ITS utilities during bridge and road works; verify as‑built updates.
• Ensure compliance with authorities’ standards and regulations (e.g., RTA/ADM/DMT/ASHGHAL, IEC, NEC, BS/EN) and project-specific employer requirements.
• Support review of shop drawings, method statements, materials, and RFIs for electrical/ITS scope; provide constructability feedback.
• Maintain site logs, prepare daily reports, inspection requests (IRs), punch/snag lists, and contribute to weekly/monthly progress reporting.
• Coordinate with contractors, designers, and client representatives to resolve on-site issues and expedite delivery with zero‑harm safety culture.
• Participate in HSE walks/briefings; stop work and escalate unsafe acts/conditions.
• Track redline drawings and verify as‑built accuracy prior to handover.

Mandatory Experience (Must-Have)

• 7+ years as Electrical/ITS Inspector on roads and bridges projects within large-scale infrastructure programs.
• Proven inspection experience across bridge structures (e.g., deck/cable trays, expansion joint crossings, earthing/bonding, lighting/power on structures) and highway corridors (gantries, masts, cabinets, conduits, handholes, pull boxes).
• Hands-on experience with fiber optic networks (blowing, splicing, OTDR testing), LV/ELV cabling, and field device installation/integration for ITS.
• Demonstrated compliance with local authority standards and permits relevant to roads/bridges/ITS.
• Full lifecycle T&C exposure for ITS/electrical scope on transportation projects.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering (or equivalent).
• Previous experience with international consultants/PMCs/contractors on transportation infrastructure.
• Valid UAE/GCC experience preferred (adapt to location as needed).

The offered salary for this role is 7000 to 8500 AED
