Essential Functions:
- Supervise and provide technical direction to electrical and instrumentation maintenance personnel; inspect and evaluate work performance.
- Develop, prioritize, and execute scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
- Provide engineering support related to electrical systems and instrumentation.
- Deliver hands-on troubleshooting and technical training to personnel.
- Specify and manage procurement of electrical components, spare parts, and rebuilds.
- Oversee maintenance of large rotating machinery and electrical equipment.
- Plan, specify, and manage electrical maintenance projects and contractors.
- Implement and support a comprehensive preventive maintenance program.
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulatory requirements; develop and promote safe work practices.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance leadership to align priorities and share progress updates.
- Mentor and train junior electricians, supporting their progression to journeyman-level competencies.
- Conduct regular safety and environmental inspections; maintain compliance documentation.
- Coordinate the planning and execution of new equipment installations and project work.
- Assist in monitoring departmental budgets and controlling maintenance-related expenditures.
- Manage and oversee external contractors performing electrical work onsite.
Requirements:
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in the mining industry or a comparable industrial setting.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong background in the design and maintenance of advanced industrial electronic systems.
- Proficient in diagnosing and troubleshooting complex electrical issues using logical and effective methods.
- In-depth knowledge of industrial power distribution systems and electrical protective relaying.
- Skilled in the use of electrical and electronic testing instruments.
- Demonstrated experience with PLC-based control systems and VFDs.
- Thorough understanding of electrical safety practices and regulatory compliance.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work effectively in a unionized work environment.
