The Electrical Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring smooth operation and minimum downtime of all electrical and automation systems in the printing and packaging plant. The role requires hands-on experience in electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, PLC programming, and preventive maintenance of high-speed machines used in printing, laminating, slitting, pouching, and packaging processes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Carry out routine maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical panels, drives, and control circuits.
- Diagnose faults in electrical systems, PLCs, motors, and sensors to minimize machine downtime.
- Repair and replace electrical components (contactors, relays, sensors, power supplies, etc.).
- Maintain and update electrical documentation and wiring diagrams.
2. PLC & Automation
- Program, modify, and troubleshoot PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, or equivalent).
- Interface PLCs with HMIs and other automation systems.
- Optimize PLC logic for better machine efficiency and safety compliance.
- Support installation and commissioning of new automated machines or upgrades.
3. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules for all electrical and control systems.
- Monitor key equipment parameters and identify early signs of electrical or automation issues.
- Maintain maintenance logs and generate performance reports.
4. Equipment & Machine Support
- Provide technical support for printing presses, lamination machines, slitter-rewinders, pouching machines, and packaging lines.
- Ensure proper functioning of VFDs, servo drives, and control panels.
- Coordinate with mechanical and production teams for smooth plant operations.
5. Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all maintenance work adheres to electrical safety standards and statutory regulations.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and energy-saving initiatives.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, industrial automation, and control panels.
- Hands-on experience in PLC programming (Siemens / Allen Bradley / Delta / Mitsubishi).
- Understanding of HMI/SCADA systems.
- Experience with AC/DC drives, servo systems, pneumatic controls, and sensors.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed production environment.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Experience:
- Prior experience in printing, flexible packaging, or converting industries.
- Exposure to rotogravure / flexographic printing machines, laminators, or pouching machines.
- Knowledge of energy management systems and electrical panel design is an added advantage
