Electrical Reliability Technician – PLC Systems

As an Electrical Reliability Technician focused on PLC systems, you’ll be a key contributor to a major Chicago manufacturing operation. Your mission: ensure safe, reliable, and efficient performance across electrical, controls, and instrumentation assets in a food-grade, unionized facility.

Impact You’ll Drive

• Stabilize production by rapidly troubleshooting PLCs, control panels, relays, breakers, communications, and alarm systems.
• Own the installation and commissioning of new electrical/controls equipment with minimal supervision.
• Diagnose root causes, replace faulty components, and complete high-caliber wiring and terminations.
• Optimize and service VFDs, 3‑phase motors, and critical sensors (temperature, pressure, level).
• Coach junior technicians, elevating team capability and response times.
• Reinforce rigorous safety and sanitation practices in a food-grade environment.

Your Background

• High School Diploma or GED plus a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training.
• 3+ years of industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience.
• Demonstrated PLC troubleshooting strength and solid electrical fundamentals.
• Competence in wiring/testing 3‑phase motors and calibrating industrial instrumentation.

Preferred Profile

• PLC programming exposure (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or similar vendors).
• Control panel installation, build, and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with sanitary or hazardous process instrumentation in food or consumer goods plants.

• Experience with 120/208/240/480 V power systems
• Electrical installation, troubleshooting, and repair
• OSHA 10‑Hour Certification (OSHA 10)
• Pneumatics troubleshooting
• Machine safety inspection proficiency
