Electrical Systems Technician

Installs and repairs electrical components on Keeneland's grounds and updates current electrical facilities by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Installs and maintains all grounds lighting.
  • Installs and maintains all electric heaters in tack rooms and dorms.
  • Installs and maintains all data cables for tote system.
  • Services, updates, and maintains all electrical systems (120volts-480volts) in the barns, grandstands, sales pavilions, outbuildings, and temporary structures.
  • Lays out wiring systems during sales, races, and special events.
  • Available to be put On Call when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Tech school degree or a completed 4 year apprenticeship in the electrical field plus 2 to 3 years of related experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Journeyman Electrical License, driver's license, and a Kentucky Horse Racing Authority License.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
