Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician (Electrical) is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems of pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging equipment. The role requires expertise in electrical systems, PLC troubleshooting, pneumatics, and automation control, with a focus on blister cartoning, powder filling machines, granulation lines, coating, encapsulation, tableting, labelling, and cartoning equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production and packaging equipment.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, SOPs, and pharmaceutical industry standards for electrical safety and operation.
- Diagnose electrical faults in motors, control panels, PLC systems, and sensors.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical diagrams.
- Collaborate with mechanical technicians to resolve multidisciplinary issues affecting machine performance.
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
- Support equipment transfer, modifications, new installations, and commissioning.
- Assist with minor mechanical tasks, including assembling and disassembling mechanical components as needed.
- Physically handle components and equipment weighing up to 15 kg as required for maintenance activities.
- Maintain detailed documentation of maintenance activities and update reports using relevant software tools (SAP or CMMS systems).
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, including lockout / tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- This is not a desk office job; the role involves hands-on troubleshooting and on-site maintenance tasks.
- Availability to work weekends and night shifts as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 3 years experience as an electrical maintenance technician in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of PLC troubleshooting, automation systems, motors, sensors, and electrical panels.
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical industry standards (GMP, SOPs, safety regulations).
- Experience with packaging and manufacturing machines (granulation, blistering, tableting, labeling, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics and technical manuals.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to assist with minor mechanical issues, including assembling and disassembling components.
- Basic computer skills for report writing and using maintenance software (SAP experience is an advantage).
- Ability to lift and handle loads up to 15 kg.
- Basic mechanical knowledge is an advantage.
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
- English language proficiency is an advantage.
