Electrical Technician

Responsibilities

Job Description

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on offshore electrical systems (motors, generators, transformers, switchboards, VFDs, relays, lighting).
  • Diagnose and repair faults in power distribution, control systems, and instrumentation.
  • Install, test, and commission new electrical systems and equipment following offshore standards.
  • Ensure compliance with permit-to-work systems, lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), and HSE protocols.
  • Conduct risk assessments and participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and reports.
  • Support project teams in electrical design modifications and upgrades.
  • Adhere to IEC, NEC, and Qatar Q-CERT offshore safety standards.

Requirements

Qualifications & Skills

  • Diploma / Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years' offshore experience in electrical maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of power distribution, circuit breakers, transformers, PLCs, and instrumentation.
  • Certifications: HV/LV Electrical Safety, CompEx (preferred), IRATA awareness (if rope access involved).
  • Familiarity with offshore safety standards and PTW systems.
