Electrical Workshop Supervisor, Maintenance Department

Reports to: Senior Electrical Engineer

Purpose:

The electrical supervisor supports daily maintenance and repair of building electrical systems, overseeing a team of technicians. The role ensures safe and efficient work on high and low voltage systems, maintaining power and lighting across university facilities in line with operational standards.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and support electricians in daily maintenance and repair tasks
• Plan and assign work orders based on priorities and available resources
• Inspect completed work for safety and quality compliance
• Troubleshoot electrical issues and guide technicians as needed
• Oversee maintenance of electrical panels, circuits, and lighting systems
• Track materials, report progress, and request supplies
• Read electrical drawings to explain tasks and plan work
• Ensure safety rules are followed and provide basic training
• Perform other related duties as required

Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirements:

• Intermediate technical education or equivalent

Experience:

• Minimum of 15 years of related fields experience

Skills:

• Problem Solving: Ability to handle multiple tasks with great attention to detail
• Communication: Proven ability to manage teams and contractors in a fast-paced, service-driven environment, good command of English for clear reporting and stakeholder engagement
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Technical: Solid knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical systems, with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• They must understand safety regulations and electrical codes, be able to read and interpret blueprints and schematics, and use basic computer applications for documentation and reporting
