ELECTRICIAN – ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Operation & Maintenance
- Perform routine inspection, maintenance, and repair of all electrical equipment such as motors, MCCs, switchgear, transformers, VFDs, heaters, pumps, and lighting systems.
- Monitor electrical loads for paper machines, refiners, stock pumps, pulpers, conveyors, and auxiliary systems.
- Ensure proper functioning of power distribution panels, busbars, and control wiring.
B. Troubleshooting
- Diagnose electrical faults such as motor failures, earth leakage, tripping, overloads, burning smell, and voltage fluctuations.
- Identify faults in PLC power supply circuits, starters, relays, contactors, and electrical interlocks.
C. Installation & Commissioning
- Install and connect new motors, drives, power cables, control circuits, and electrical panels.
- Assist in commissioning new paper machines, rewinder systems, rotary screens, vacuum pumps, etc.
- Ensure alignment and earthing compliance during installation.
D. Safety & Compliance
- Follow LOTO (Lock Out – Tag Out) procedures before maintenance work.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards (IE rules/NFPA).
- Maintain updated documentation of electrical load, panel schedules, and maintenance logs.
E. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Conduct insulation resistance testing (Megger), continuity testing, and earth resistance tests.
- Lubrication and cleaning of electrical motors and panel systems.
- Monitor motor current, temperature, and vibrations regularly.
F. Coordination & Reporting
- Coordinate with production, mechanical, and instrumentation teams for breakdowns.
- Prepare job reports, daily activity logs, and spare consumption records.
